Intensive Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks overnight. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
